The
Quechan Nation
was in federal court on Friday in hopes of blocking a wind farm at a sacred site in California.
The tribe sued the
Interior Department
and the
Bureau of Land Management
for approving the
Ocotillo Wind Energy Facility
. The tribe says it wasn't consulted about the project.
The tribe also says the BLM reclassified public lands to authorize the wind farm.
Pattern Energy
is the developer behind the project.
The wind farm is almost complete, East County Magazine reported.
