The Mescalero Apache Tribe of New Mexico will be sharing a portion of its $32.8 million trust fund settlement.
The tribe approved a per capita payment of $1,500. The checks will be mailed next week, The Albuquerque Journal reported.
The tribe has already used settlement funds for economic development and other purposes.
About $10 million remains and that's expected to be shared next year, the Journal reported.
