As many as 8,000 Indian beneficiaries in Wyoming are slated to benefit from the $3.4 billion Cobell trust fund settlement.

Members of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and the Northern Arapaho Tribe are among those who will receive a $1,000 check to settle historical accounting claims. The money is expected to be distributed in time for Christmas, bringing $8 million to the state.

Nationwide, 350,000 beneficiaries are expected to share in the first round of payments from the settlement.
