It's Back: UND resumes use of 'Fighting Sioux' nick and logo

The University of North Dakota is using the "Fighting Sioux" nickname and logo again, despite a state law that put the controversial symbols to rest last year.

The decision came as members of the Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation and supporters turned in a petition to overturn the state law. If all the signatures are valid, the issue will be put to a vote in June.

The State Board of Higher Education will meet next week to determine what to do about the state law.
