Lana Causley will serve as interim chairwoman of the
Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians
in Michigan.
Causley will handle all leadership issues for the tribe until the tribe's board can appoint a successor. It's not clear when that might happen -- the next election isn't scheduled until June 2012.
Causley, who was elected as vice chair, replaces Darwin "Joe" McCoy, who unexpectedly resigned in May.
