Sentencing has been rescheduled in the fatal hit-and-run case of Linda Diaz, the former lieutenant governor of Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico.

Diaz was convicted of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. She struck and killed 31-year-old Phillip Espinoza along a highway on the reservation on April 4, 2009.

Diaz faces up to three years in prison when she is sentenced on November 2. But she has asked the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals for a new trial.
