Pueblo leader found guilty in fatal hit and run case
Lt. Governor Linda Diaz of Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico was found guilty on Friday in connection with a fatal hit and run on the reservation.

Jurors convicted Diaz, 52, of leaving the scene of a fatal accident and failing to render aid. She was accused of striking and killing Philip Espinoza, 31, in the early morning hours of April 4, 2009.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in New Mexico. said it will seek the maximum sentence and full restitution against Diaz. But her attorney Sam Winder, who used to work in the office, vowed to appeal the verdict.

Espinoza was not Indian. He worked at the casino owned by Santa Clara Pueblo.
