BIA seeks more time to acquire land for tribes
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is seeking an extension to acquire surplus U.S. Navy property for the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island and the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts.

The BIA already received two extensions and filed paperwork on behalf of the Narragansetts. . The latest extension would be used to complete the process for the Wampanoags.

The Navy is seeking to dispose of 400 acres on Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island. The land is part of Narragansett territory.
