Citing his Indian platform and endorsements from over 100 tribal leaders, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) said Barack Obama is the clear candidate of choice in Indian Country.
Clinton said Obama will appoint a high-level Indian adviser in the White House and hold annual meetings with tribal leaders. “It’s no wonder that Indian leaders feel more comfortable supporting Obama than [Sen. John] McCain," the former First Lady told The Gallup Independent.
Clinton lost the Democratic nomination to Obama. She campaigned in Indian Country after Obama made the first visit to a reservation during the campaign. John McCain has not visited a reservation or disclosed meetings with tribal leaders during the race.
