San Manuel Band signs law enforcement contract
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians renewed a law enforcement services contract with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday. The tribe will pay the county $1.2 million for round-the-clock service. The agreement covers six deputies, one of whom will be stationed on the reservation at all times The county will provide a prosecutor who only deals in reservation crime. A service specialist and clerk are also part of the deal. The tribe has been working closely with the department to address crime on the reservation. Tribal members have been linked to the Mexican Mafia and a major drug ring was broken up last year. Get the Story:
