Turnout was reportedly high on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota as the Democratic presidential race came to a close on Tuesday.

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) and Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) both targeted the Pine Ridge vote. Oglala Sioux Tribe President John Yellow Bird Steele endorsed Obama while Clinton campaigned on the reservation.

Clinton ended up winning the state primary, one of the last of the season. The other was in Montana, where Obama won the primary, and Indian superdelegate Margarett Campbell was finally able to publicly endorse the candidate.
