Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) won the Alaska Republican primary by just 304 votes, election officials said on Wednesday.
Young faced a strong challenge from Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who was endorsed by Gov. Sarah Palin (R), the Republican vice presidential nominee. Parnell is expected to ask for a recount.
Ethan Berkowitz won the Democratic primary in August. He defeated Diane Benson, a
Tlingit woman.
Young is under federal investigation for his ties to lobbyists.
