A business owned by the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska will be presented with the Department of State's Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year this week.
All Native Systems is a subsidiary of Ho-Chunk Inc., the tribe's economic development corporation.
The firm won a Small Business contract to help the Mexican government improve its technology.
HCI has other government contracts worth between $20 million to $30 million. Six subsidiaries have qualified for Small Business Administration's 8(a), or minority contracting, program.
"We started with nothing," CEO Lance Morgan said, The Omaha World-Herald reported. "The SBA has done wonders for us. The SBA is really the reason that it's happened."
All Native Systems CEO Terry Mogensen will accept the Small Business award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
