Indian Affairs minister in Canada replaced

Jim Prentice has been replaced as Indian Affairs minister in Canada.

Prentice tried to resolve outstanding land claims and the residential abuse school settlement. Native leaders in Saskatchewan say they made progress under his tenure.

"I think Mr. Jim Prentice did an excellent job. He got several things moving in that file," Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Chief Lawrence Joseph told The Saskatoon StarPhoenix.

The new Indian Affairs minister is Chuck Strahl, a former agriculture minister. Mohawk protesters called his appointment a "stall tactic" that will delay resolution of their land claim in Ontario.

Harper was moved to Industry in the Canadian government.
