Eugene Little Coyote, the president of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana, plans to hold a meeting with employees today to discuss an incident with vice president Rick Wolfname.
Little Coyote said he hopes to dispel rumors about the dispute, which appears to involve natural resource development on the reservation. "It was a big misunderstanding," Little Coyote told The Billings Gazette. "I'm still at work, we all continue with our duties."
There was widespread speculation about the incident and some traditional leaders said they will meet to discuss what happened. "They were concerned this is escalating," Leonard Elk Shoulder, a traditional chief, told the paper.
