The Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Community of Minnesota is donating eight floors of furniture to several tribes and an urban Indian organization.
The furniture comes from one of the tribe's hotels, which is undergoing renovation. It will go to the Red Lake Nation of Minnesota, the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, the Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, the Upper Sioux Community of Minnesota and the Minneapolis Urban Indian center.
Items include beds, lamps, tables, chairs, televisions and artwork. "We are happy that this furniture will be put to good use by these tribes to help their people," said Chairman Stanley Crooks.
