Tribal lobbying expenditures in Washington have fallen 25 percent since 2003, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
In 2006, tribes and other tribal interests spent nearly $25 million on lobbying firms. That's down from $28.5 million four years ago.
Experts attribute the drop to the Jack Abramoff scandal. Most tribes have scaled back their expenditures considerably since 2004.
The $25 million figure includes expenditures by groups like the American Gaming Association and the American Greyhound Track Operators Association, so the spending by tribal governments is actually lower.
