Members of the Ramapough Lenape Nation of New Jersey said racism was a factor in the shooting death of Emil Mann on April 1, 2006.

Mann was unarmed when he was shot and killed by a state park police officer. His family is still waiting on the results of an investigation into the incident but they feel the office acted recklessly.

Mann's siblings, former wife and children announced a civil rights lawsuit against the officer and several others who were involved. The suit doesn't specify any monetary damages.
