Members of the Ramapough Lenape Indian Nation of New Jersey are protesting today over what they say is inaction over the fatal shooting of a tribal man.
Bergen County is investigating the shooting of Emil Mann by a state park police officer. The incident occurred on April 1, two days before Mann's 45th birthday, but tribal members say nothing has happened.
"They don't understand why it's taking so long, and everything seems to be a delay tactic," Chief Anthony Jay Van Dunk told The Newark Star-Ledger.
Governor Jon Corzine (D) also promised an investigation.
