The Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma are hoping to resolve a decades-old land dispute with the federal government.

The tribes filed a land claim last year over 7,000 acres at Fort Reno. The lawsuit says the federal government promised to return the land when it was no longer needed by the military.

Tribal leaders hope to develop the land once it's back in their hands. But Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) has other plans in mind with a bill that would keep any oil and gas money out of the tribe's hands.

The federal government filed a motion to dismiss the suit. Some claim the tribes were paid for the land.
