The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is in talks with Wal-Mart to bring a Supercenter to the reservation in North Carolina.
No decisions have been made. But the tribal council will consider a resolution to authorize Principal Chief Michell Hicks to negotiate a lease with the retail giant.
Richard Sneed, a longtime business owner, welcomes the idea, saying it will keep dollars on the reservations. Curt Wildcatt, the manager of the Radio Shack, says Wal-Mart will hurt local businesses.
Wal-Mart already operates a Supercenter about 20 minutes from the reservation.
