Ousted Hopi chairman tries to get back to work

Benjamin Nuvamsa is back to work as chairman of the Hopi Tribe of Arizona but controversy refuses to die down.

Nuvamsa won a tribal court order restoring him to his position until May 30. When he tried to preside over council meeting on Monday, he was interrupted by council members who refused to recognize him.

That led to the arrest of vice chairman Todd Honyaoma Sr. on contempt of court charges. Honyaoma signed a memorandum that said the tribal council wouldn't recognize Nuvamsa as chairman.

Nuvamsa was elected in February following the ousted of former chairman Ivan Sydney.
