Members of the Navajo Nation told the Environmental Protection Agency of their opposition to the tribe's proposed power plant in New Mexico.
Tribal members said the Desert Rock Power Plant will harm the environment. The cited concerns about air pollution, due to potential emissions from the $2.5-billion, 1,500-megawatt coal-fired power plant.
The EPA has issued a draft permit for the facility. Officials went to the Four Corners this week to conduct two hearings, one on the reservation and one off the reservation.
