Upwards of 80,000 people are expected to attend the 85th annual Santa Fe Indian Market in New Mexico this weekend.

Established in 1922, the event is the largest Indian arts and crafts market in the world. Nearly 1,000 Native artists representing tribes across the United States will show their goods on Saturday and Sunday.

"Among the many forms of art and artisanship: Beadwork, baskets, paintings and carvings; pottery, sculpture, jewlery and masks; kachinas, leatherwork, native dress and drums; weaving, glasswork, quillwork and masks. With every year come variations and expansions on inspired themes in so many forms," The Santa Fe New Mexican said in an editorial.

The weekend is more than just art, though. The National Museum of the American Indian is hosting its annual Native Cinema Showcase. Artists like Virgil Ortiz of Cochiti Pueblo are putting on fashion shows.

The annual 12th annual Native Roots & Rhythm continues to be a top draw. This year's performers include Bill Miller and National Congress of American Indians President Joe Garcia.
