Abramoff Scandal
Ralph Reed loses big in first political campaign

Christian activist Ralph Reed lost the Republican party's nomination for lieutenant governor of Georgia on Tuesday.

With 94 percent of the precicnts reporting, Reed conceded the race to state Sen. Casey Cagle. Reed only had 44 percent of the vote, compared to 56 percent for Cagle.

During the campaign, Reed was battered over his ties to convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Reed took more than $5 million from Abramoff's gaming tribes despite being an avowed opponent of gaming.
