The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe of Nevada is fighting a proposal to build a pipeline on federal land.

The tribe is worried the $70 million project will drain water from Pyramid Lake and reduce groundwater basins on the reservation. The tribe also fears wastewater could seep back into the Truckee River and the lake.

The Bureau of Land Management approved the 28-mile pipeline. It would bring water from the Honey Lake Basin to new developments elsewhere.
