The Navajo Nation Head Start program has received a partial reinstatement of funds, tribal officials said.
The tribe submitted a remedial plan to the Administration for Children and Families in hopes of reopening some of the Head Start centers. They had been shut down in May after a review found employees with criminal records.
The tribe has since conduct background checks on hundreds of employees and has fired more than a dozen.
