Former Crow official enters plea in federal case

Theodore J. Hogan, a former official for the Crow Tribe of Montana, pleaded not guilty on Thursday to charges of making false statements.

Hogan is accused of lying about his financial status. Federal prosecutors say he provided false information about his businesses and other investments.

Hogan is required to provide such information to the federal government because he was previously convicted of a crime while serving in the Crow tribal government. He was ordered to pay restitution.

Separately, Hogan is under scrutiny for allegedly bilking investors. He had been working for the tribe, as a consultant, to finance energy development on the reservation.
