Tribe seeks funds to complete oil refinery study

The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation, Three Affiliated Tribes, of North Dakota is seeking federal funds to complete an environmental impact statement for an oil refinery on the Fort Berthold Reservation.

The tribe needs $112,000 to complete the draft before it can published in the Federal Register. Publication is expected by the end of the month, Chairman Tex Hall said.

The $80 million project would be the first new refinery in the U.S. in 30 years.
