The Hoopa Valley Tribe in northern California was again denied a seat on the Humboldt County Association of Governments.
The association board voted 4-4 last week on the tribe's membership. Even though the Humboldt County supports the tribe's stance, a county supervisor who sits on the association board voted against the tribe.
The tribe was made eligible to join the association by a special state law. The association decides key issues such as road funding and public transportation resources.
