The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon will celebrate 29 years of restoration this month.
The tribe is holding its annual Restoration Pow-Wow at Chinook Winds Casino Resort on November 18. The event marks the passage of Public Law 95-195, the law that restored the federal government's relationship with the tribe.
The tribe was terminated by Congress in August 1954. The move had a devastating impact on the tribe and its members.
Since restoration, the tribe has opened a casino, a golf resort, a health clinic, housing developments and several businesses. The tribe is the largest employer in Lincoln County.
