Cheyenne River Sioux man receives top SBA award


Robert Laurenz, a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, has been named the 2006 Minority Small Business Person of the Year for South Dakota.

Laurenz is president of Dakota 2000. The firm provides commercial, federal, state, local and tribal government agencies with information technology services.

�I firmly believe developing the information technology infrastructure in Indian country will lead to improved economic conditions,� Laurenz said. �Dakota 2000 does about 50 percent of its work in Indian country for federal and tribal agencies.�
