Mary Moldenhauer, an Ojibwe woman and owner of an electronics firm, was recently named Minnesota's Minority Small Business Person of the Year by the Small Business Administration.

Moldenhauer, from the La Court Oreilles Band, operates Greystar Electronics Inc. in Duluth. The firm manufactures components that go into tanks, jets, ships and other military equipment.

"One of the things that impressed us about Greystar is that it has been such a steady performer," said Randy Czaia, assistant district director for the Small Business Administration's Minnesota District Office, The Duluth News Tribune reported.

Moldenhauer has a long background in business and technology. But she said her biggest struggle was growing the company while raising her kids as a single mother.

Last year's Minnesota Small Business Person of the Year was Kathleen Meyer, a Mille Lacs Ojibwe woman.
