County supports Paskenta Band trust land bid

The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians won the unanimous support of the Tehama County, California, Board of Supervisors to put 320 acres in trust.

The tribe filed an application with the Bureau of Indian Affairs to have four parcels place in trust. All the properties are adjacent to the reservation. The tribe says it has no plans to develop the land.

The supervisors' unanimous vote came amid concerns that the county is being bought off by the tribe. Just last week, the tribe donated $300,000 to the county.
