Meetings set on draft energy rights-of-way report

The Interior Department and the Energy Department are holding four public meetings and consultation sessions on the draft tribal rights-of-way report.

The first meeting is being held tomorrow in Lakewood, Colorado. Another will be held on Friday in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The final two meetings take place next week. One is being held at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, California, on August 28, and the other in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 30 [Federal Register Notce].

The report was authorized by the National Energy Policy Act of 2005. The provision, known as Section 1813, was written after the energy industry tried to persuade Congress to authorize energy rights-of-way agreements without tribal consent.
