The Montana Indian Education Association is questioning whether money for the Indian Education for All program is being used properly.
Some school districts are using money to pay for salaries instead of teaching about Indian history and culture, said state Rep. Carol Juneau, the head of MIEA.
But the state won't penalize schools that use the money for other purposes.
The state constitution requires public schools to each about Indian history and culture. But no money was provided until this year.
