The Chickasaw Nation and the Choctaw Nation are helping combat diabetes in Oklahoma.
The Chickasaw Nation is contributing $1 million to fund a chair at the future Oklahoma Diabetes Center and another $1 million for an endowed faculty position at the University of Oklahoma.
The Choctaw Nation is contributing $1 million for two positions at OU.
Oklahoma Indians suffer from an exceptionally high rate of diabetes. About 20 percent of Choctaws have the disease, according to the tribe.
