A federal funding cut is threatening the future of a program that has graduated more than 100 Indian doctors since 1990.
The Center for American Indian and Minority Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School is only one of three centers in the U.S. that encourage Indians to enter the medical field.
But it will lose 83 percent of its funding in the coming year.
School officials hope to restore the cut. They say promising Indian students who might not otherwise go into the medical field will be hurt if the center is forced to shut down.
