Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota), the vice chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, held a listening session on Indian education at the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.

Dorgan heard from tribal leaders, teachers and students. He said he would work to restore President Bush's education cuts.

"We need to devote more resources to education, as well as to health care, housing and other infrastructure, but unfortunately the president's budget continues to sell our reservations short," he said.
