The Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho will be participating in the next round of Montana's bison hunt.
The tribe's participation was approved by Montana attorney general Mike McGrath. he and other state officials said the tribe has off-reservation hunting rights in Montana under an 1855 treaty.
The tribe plans to send tribal youth to participate in the hunt. Other Montana tribes have been issued licenses as part of the hunt although the Crow Tribe refused its allocation.
The hunt was set up to allow people to kill bison that wander out of Yellowstone National Park, where the Nez Perce used to hunt.
