The 29th annual Lakota Nation Invitational kicked off in Rapid City, South Dakota, on Wednesday.
The Lakota Language Bowl was held on Wednesday, with fewer teams than usual participating. The competition finished in the evening, with 12 teams of students competing to translate phrases in Lakota.
The Hand Game Tournament and the Lakota Nation Knowledge Bowl start today. The hand games are becoming more popular, drawing 13 high school teams and 19 elementary school teams over two days of competition.
