Mechoopda Tribe shares history, struggles

The Mechoopda Tribe of California led a bus tour on Sunday to share its history and struggles with the local community.

The tribe has called Chico its home for thousands of years. But the tribe lost its land base when it was terminated by the federal government in 1964.

The tribe was restored in 1991 and is working to restore its land base. The bus tour in Chico highlighted the tribe's connections to the community, where many still remain.
