The Mechoopda Tribe signed a memorandum of understanding regarding campus development with Chico State University.
The school is located on the tribe's ancestral land. Villages and burial grounds are known to exist on the campus. A tribal cemetery is located across from a new dorm development.
Tribal and school officials say the agreement will help the two parties work together as the campus expands.
