All nine seats on the Mohegan Tribe's council are up for grabs in an upcoming election.
All but eight council members, including chairman Mark Brown, are seeking re-election.
Issues facing the tribe include the expansion of the tribe's businesses and heightened scrutiny of Indian gaming.
Tribal members are choosing among 51 candidates in a round of balloting. Final voting will be complete by the end of August.
