The former dean of the First Nations University of Canada went to work on Tuesday to find out her position had been abolished.
Winona Wheeler said she had no idea the decision was coming. She said she was told pack up and turn in her keys and Blackberry. Students protested on Tuesday in opposition to Wheeler's dismissal.
FNUC acknowledged abolishing the position but said Wheeler could have remained in another capacity. The school is facing financial and management problems and is undergoing an audit.
