Two non-Indian men will go to trial for alleged cattle theft on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
Walter Schultz Jr., 40, and Ronald Jensen, 66, are each charged with six counts of alteration of brands, five counts of grand theft and five counts of possession of stolen property. They face prison time and fines if convicted.
Another man, Howard Hunter, 32, pleaded guilty to larceny involving cattle theft on the reservation. Hunter is an Oglala Sioux tribal member who admitted keeping cattle that wandered onto his ranch and trading them for a car.
Yet another man, Charles "Butch" Divan, 57, faces more charges for a probation violation involving cattle theft.
