The Pechanga Band of Luise�o Indians did not make a formal appearance at the dedication of a park for a Pechanga leader whose ancestry has been disputed by the tribe.

The city of Temecula named the 2.6-acre park in honor of Pablo Apis, whose descendants have been removed from the tribal rolls. The tribe says Apis cut his ties to the tribe in the late 1800s.

More than 70 Apis descendants attended the ceremony. They are fighting their disenrollment.
