Education, housing and gaming are the focus of three tribal conferences in Washington, D.C., this week.
The National Indian Education Association kicks off its legislative summit today. Among other issues, tribal educators discuss the No Child Left Behind Act, the fiscal year 2006 budget and Impact Aid. The summit concludes on Wednesday.
The National American Indian Housing Council meets on Tuesday and Wednesday for its 11th annual legislative conference. Attendees will meet with federal officials, Congressional staff and Rep. Rick Renzi (R-Arizona).
The National Indian Gaming Association is also meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday morning, NIGA will present its 2004 tribal government gaming economic impact report at the National Press Club. On Wednesday night, NIGA and NIEA will host a joint reception.
