The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe will swear in its new chairman and other elected officials on Wednesday, October 12.
Ron His Horse Is Thunder, the president of the Sitting Bull College, was elected chairman. This is his first political office.
Avis Little Eagle, publisher of The Teton Times, was elected vice chair. She said the election saw one of the highest turnouts.
Other officials elected were Gerildene Agar as secretary and eight others as council representatives for their respective districts.
