Appeal filed in Narragansett Reservation raid

A member of the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island has filed a notice of appeal in the state's violent raid of the reservation on July 14, 2003.

Adam Jennings' ankle was broken when state troopers raided the tribe's smoke shop. He won a jury verdict of $300,000 for excessive force by one particular trooper. But a federal judge last month overturned the verdict, holding that the trooper did not use excessive force and that the trooper was entitled to limited immunity.

Jennings filed the appeal with the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals, which is slated to hear another case stemming from the raid later this year.
